In Early 2005, a couple of the Steam engines from Hesper and Mabel headed to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras carnival.
The big steam engine pulled the Steam Calliope and Band from Winona Minnesota, as one of the float entries in a couple of the many parades during this celebration.

The Carnival refers to the season of merriment which always begins on January 6th.

Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is the single culminating day of the carnival and is always the day before Ash Wednesday.

The Mardi Gras colors are purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power).

Masking is only legal on Fat Tuesday from dawn to dusk. By law, float riders must be masked at all times.
